Anna Kelly

Anna got her first guitar when she was 4 and started playing when she was 7. Says she, "Its like having a third arm for special events. I just attach it, and do what I do." With hope, she'll be invited to do what she does more often.

Passion Play
by Anna Kelly

Everywhere I go they ask me where I've been,
I keep running into me at every shop at every bend
my choices are endless I could try to rule it all
but I was born and raised an underdog and even so there's far to fall
so why don't I just fall for you, live up to your standards make me blue
come on now I'm on a role, let's forget I don't have much control

And I'm trying to lay low, but you keep walking in,
just to say hello and then you walk on out again,
I can't look up at your face I know the tops of my shoes all to well,
There's grime on my laces, I've been working to hard you say, 'I can tell'

Chorus:
But this is the part and this is the time
I should stay far away from the passion play
yeah this is the part and this is the time
I should stay far away from the passion play,
but this is my heart and this is my rhyme,
and I'l play with passion anyway, no matter what I say

But I can't afford you, I spend all my time just getting by,
pretty soon I'd start to bore you, and soon you'd start to wonder why
or how I can adore you when I don't even know me and I don't even know how to try
So I should stake my claim go on and give myself a whirl
I should break my fame show I'm not one kind of girl
and then take some blame, like doing the laundry I'd wash it away
and then fake I'm tame so I can just get through today get through today

Bridge:
But just like madmen, its hard to know you're out there,
I could bump into you and have to make words
so I don't want to go out today,
no I don't want to go out today,
cuz maybe I'd bump too hard and maybe words wouldn't come
or maybe I'd latch my hand to your wrist and start runnin' far, far away far away

But I've lived long enough to know better by singing this song I'm calling out to you,
so lets get it all down letter for letter cuz every wish I've made has come true,
maybe not for you but

Chorus

I try to go back to the start of all my other lives,
but you distract me yeah, you attract me and I hope to hell the day never arrives,
that you find I'm only looking for a place to be,
don't be too alarmed if nothin' much changes you know
I'm just me
with all my honesty

I'm so indecisive, I'm torn, as if its up to me
But I've got your number now and it won't let me free
I hold on to it like the heart I stole
It was my first theft
yeah its tattered in my pocket cuz its the only passion play
that I have left
today
